Gearbox oil is thicker than normal engine oil so it'll come out faster when at working temp. here you have a video link of a how-to-do.
Re: Auto gearbox fluid change and drive shaft oil seal replacement – 02-11-2014, 04:35 PM. The fluid has to be pumped up into the box from below and the level set at between 35 °C and 45 °C. The box a a total capacity of around seven litres and VW say you need about 3 litres to do a change but I find it is much more than that.
Gearbox oils, and rear axle oils MUST be drained when hot, ideally after a good spanking - so when you do get round to getting it done, state you want the oil drained the moment you leave it at the stealers.
